This is what you may experience in the Narvik region

You find Narvik surrounded by an arctic landscape and North Norwegian nature. Where history was created. Where you do not need to be a world champion to participate in world class activities. It is here that you can experience ‘The Battle of Narvik’ at close hand and see locations from the film.

Narvikfjellet – straight down to the Atlantic Ocean

A really spectacular experience can be had if you take the cable car up to 656 metres above sea level.

From the upper cable car station in Narvikfjellet you get a panoramic view over deep fjords, high mountains, the historical iron ore port, and the town of Narvik, which makes the actual cable car trip an experience in itself.

There is a big chance that the entire world will be able to experience these very mountains on the TV, as Narvik is a hot candidate to be the host of the Alpine Skiing World Championships in 2029.

A fantastic hiking paradise

The Narvik region is not called a hiking paradise for nothing.

Narvik has a perfect location, in the middle of North Norway and at the inner end of the Ofotfjord, between coastal mountains and inland mountains. You can hike here in majestic nature and feel small amongst jagged mountain tops and deep fjords.

Here is where you find Norway’s national mountain, Stetind, og det er her du finner Skjomen – ‘North Norway’s Hardanger’..

The taste of Narvik

In Narvik you get North Norwegian culinary arts combined with the nuances and temperament of the arctic nature outside the restaurant door. Here the mountains, forests, and sea abound with fresh arctic world class raw products.

In recent years Narvik has established itself as an attractive food destination with varied eating places with some of the region’s best cooks preparing the food.

Master chef Vegard Stormo at Scandic Narvik wants to serve food with good stories that lift and carry the total experience.

In addition you get a fantastic view here over all of Narvik, the town, the mountains, and the Ofotfjord.

Vegard Stormo’s cooking philosophy is to minimise processing food and prepare natural ingredients straight in the pan.

Dinner with a panoramic view

In Linken Restaurant & Bar, on the top floor of Quality Hotel Grand Royal, you can experience fine dining with a panoramic view over the fjord and mountains.

The traditional Rallar`n Pub & Kro, which is also in Quality Hotel Grand Royal, is an eating place that offers good food in a cosy atmosphere. This is a popular eating place amongst the local population and is known for its succulent beef.

At Breidablikk Restaurant the food is prepared with the best North Norwegian raw products, and it is always the season that determines what is served.

At Fjellheisrestauranten, by the top cable car station, you can get simple and tasty dishes for all the family.
